Beyond the Chair
Reclaiming Passion and Purpose After Spinal Trauma
Beyond the Chair is more than a story about injury—it’s a story about identity, resilience, and rediscovering purpose when life places an unexpected obstacle in your path.
After living with cerebral palsy and epilepsy since birth—and later experiencing a life-altering spinal cord injury—I wasn’t stripped of everything I knew. Instead, it felt as though a massive boulder had been dropped directly in my way. The road forward was still there, but it would never look the same.
Having already navigated life with a mildly debilitating disability, I was deeply grateful for the way God had designed me. That lived experience gave me resilience, perspective, and a foundation to draw from—but my injury required something new: a redefining of the path itself. I had to learn how to adapt, rebuild, and move forward with intention rather than momentum.
This book shares my personal journey through loss, rehabilitation, faith, and rebuilding—offering honest reflections on grief, frustration, hope, and the slow, often unseen work of learning to rise again. Through lived experience, practical insight, and encouragement, Beyond the Chair speaks to anyone navigating spinal trauma, neurological injury, or a season of profound life disruption.
Whether you’re living with a spinal cord injury, supporting someone who is, or walking through recovery after trauma or illness, this book is a reminder that your story isn’t over—and your purpose isn’t confined to a chair, a diagnosis, or an obstacle in your way.
This is a story of rising—not just surviving.
