Grants and scholarships specifically for people living with a spinal cord injury.

• Thomas E. Smith Foundation: $1,000–$20,000. Buys a specific item for you — wheelchair, laptop, vehicle, bathroom remodel, etc. Rolling applications year-round.
• Triumph Foundation: $1,000–$2,000, paid directly to the vendor. Equipment, supplies, and services. Rolling. Priority to Southern California residents.
• Michael Feger Paralysis Foundation: Amount not publicly listed. Durable medical equipment, assistive technology, and home accessibility products. Rolling. Only Kentucky and Southern Indiana residents.
• Challenged Athletes Foundation: Averages $1,800 (up to $5,000); sport expense grants capped at $1,500. Adaptive sports equipment, prosthetics, coaching, and travel. Annual grant opens in fall, awarded in March; other programs accepted year-round.
• Kelly Brush Foundation: About $3,500. Adaptive sport equipment. Application window typically opens in late summer (dates shift yearly — check site).
• SCORE: $1,000–$2,500. Sport chairs, hand-cycles, bathroom renovations, ramps, adaptive fitness equipment, and physical therapy. Rolling. Requires paralysis from a non-motorized sport or athletic activity.
• Patric Young Foundation: $1,000. Transportation, housing, utilities, nutrition, home adaptations, adaptive devices, and therapy not covered by insurance. Rolling. Only Jacksonville or Gainesville, FL residents.
• Project 34: Amount not publicly listed (has donated $90K+ to dozens of individuals). Medical equipment, assistive devices, and physical therapy. Once a year — check site for current cycle.

Stroke & Brain Injury

Grants and funds for stroke survivors and people living with traumatic brain injury.

• Stroke Survivor Fund (The Stroke Foundation): Amount determined case-by-case; funds go directly to your medical facility, not to you. Physical, occupational, speech, vision, or music therapy. Apply once every 6 months, up to twice.
• Stroke Recovery Foundation (“Stroke Victor” Fund): Amount not publicly listed. Partial scholarships for additional speech, physical, and occupational therapy. Rolling.
• Stroke Support Association: Amount not publicly listed. Adaptive medical devices, adaptive driving devices, and stroke-related workshop or expense funding. Rolling.
• BELIEVE – Stroke Recovery Foundation: One-time, limited financial assistance (amount case-by-case). Therapy recovery process. Rolling. Only North Carolina residents with U.S. citizenship.
• Mind Your Brain Foundation: $1,000. Medical expenses, rehabilitation, assistive technology, and durable medical equipment. Three cycles a year: Feb1–Mar1, May1–Jun1, Sep1–Oct1.
• Traumatic Brain Injury Trust Fund (Kentucky): Up to $15,000. Services available through the TBI Fund. Rolling. Kentucky state program.
• Brain Injury Association of New York State: $400. Quality of life, physical, or emotional support. Rolling. Only New York State residents.
• We Win Together: $1,500. Physical therapy. Application dates not listed online — check site or contact directly.

Multi-Condition & Broader Disability

Grants and scholarships open to a wider range of neurological conditions and physical disabilities.

• Be Perfect Paralysis Awareness Foundation: Varies (past grants around $2,000). Physical therapy, mobility equipment/wheelchairs, and medical supplies. Rolling. For Parkinson’s, SCI, stroke, MS, brain injury, and other neurological disorders.
• High Fives Foundation: Typically $2,500–$5,000 (up to $25,000 max). Adaptive sports equipment, medical care, and adaptive sport participation. Two grant cycles a year (dates vary — check site). For SCI and traumatic brain injury from outdoor adventure sport injuries.
• IM ABLE Foundation: Not a cash grant — provides free or low-cost adaptive fitness programs and classes directly. Rolling. Only PA, NJ, MD, DE, DC, and NY residents.
• 180 Medical Scholarship Program: $1,000 scholarship, usable for anything school-related. Jan1–Jun1. For SCI, spina bifida, neurogenic bladder, transverse myelitis, or ostomy; must be a U.S. legal resident enrolled full-time (2-yr, 4-yr, or grad program) starting fall of application year.
